1812 Bicentennial

On Sunday May 20th and Monday May 21st from 10 to 4, Westfield will present an exciting new program, Life in 1812 Upper Canada. Experience life in an Upper Canadian community in a time of military conflict, social change and a growing sense of national identity. Red-coated British regulars, militia units, Native soldiers and American troops will set up camp throughout the village and nearby forest, where they will cook over campfires, carry out their military duties and engage in drill activities. Civilians and merchants in a variety of historical roles will also take up residence in the village, demonstrating aspects of daily life. Also see musical performances, historical presentations and at 2:00 p.m. both days, visitors will be able to experience the sights and sounds of battle as troops charge and the sound of musket fire fills the air.
